Moses, age 10, and Susan, age 6, are siblings. They live with their parents Syprose and Josephat Mulama. Life for this family has not been easy since their dad lost his job as a night guard. He has been trying to find another job. The mother looks for manual jobs in the neighborhood to raise money for family upkeep.
The four live in a single room house. They normally use charcoal for cooking. The mother shared with me that their biggest challenge has been affording the basic needs for the family. The little money they get is spent in paying house rent and food.
They were unable to keep up with the fees in the public primary school that the children used to attend. They were sent home at the start of March due to their inability to pay the school fees.
For the time being, the children spend their days in the neighborhood looking for things to do while their peers are in school.
